about the green tourism awards
The
Green Tourism Awards are designed to encourage North West tourism
businesses to adopt environmentally sustainable practices and to
recognise the efforts of those that successfully implement them.
Part funded through the European Union’s Regional Development
Fund (ERDF) they place the emphasis on training and awareness, so
the people involved can keep making a positive and long term contribution
to sustainability, even if they move on to work in other businesses.
The Green Tourism Awards are supported by Blackpool
Borough Council and its Blue Sky Resorts Network project, and
by North
& West Lancashire Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s
SusTourex project. The awards programme is managed by the not-for-profit
business support organisation, Nimtech.
The programme provides participating companies
with free environmental assessments and advice, and helps in the
establishment of collaborative activities such as group purchasing
and promotional work. A list of benefits to members can be found
here.
